Controlling a Colony

Empirical Control

One method that powers used to to control a colony is by taking a hold of their economy.  By trading with a colony and making them reliant upon your country for certain crops and goods, you make them subject to your will.  One example of this is Britain's East India Company and India.  They completely conquered their economy and therefore had easy control of the people.
