Imperialism and the World

Benefits:

1.  Imperialism helped bring underdeveloped countries into the modern world.  Introducing railroads, trade, and other useful things.
2. It expanded the European's knowledge of foreign countries and lands.
3. It helped create a surge of nationalism throughout countries as the opposed their foreign rulers.

Negatives:

1. It allowed the Europeans to develop an idea of supremacy and force their way into the native's lands and government.
2.  It created racism between the natives and foreigners.
3. It caused many wars and revolutions as the natives attempted to regain control of their land and their rights.
